The Enumclaw Hornets improved to 3-1 on the young baseball season with a wild 18-13 victory Thursday over the host Sumner Spartans.

After Sumner climbed back into the game with a bottom-of-the-seventh rally and forced an extra inning, the Hornets exploded for seven runs in the top of the eighth to win going away.

Cody Hart pitched the eighth inning to get the win.

Offensively, Enumclaw’s Tyler Davis, Berent Hager and Brad McCutchen had three hits each. Tosh Grace and Michael Lucarelli added two hits apiece and each smacked a home run.

The Hornets return from spring break facing a busy schedule next week. After traveling to Lakes High Monday, the EHS squad will host Franklin Pierce April 8 and travel to White River April 10.

Enumclaw had two games earlier this week, at Clover Park Monday and at home against Auburn Mountainview Tuesday. Results from each came too late to be included here, but will be posted at www.courierherald.com.
