Panthers’ late-inning run scores 4-3 victory

Tied 3-3 with one out in the seventh, Zarah Peterson reached base on a Lion throwing error. Eva Beal’s ground ball moved Peterson to second. Peterson then stole third and scored when the Lions’ catcher’s throw was high.

Bonney Lake struck in the second on a Peterson single. Auburn Mountainview answered with two runs in the top of the third.

The Panthers tied it in the bottom of the inning.

In the fifth inning with two outs, Kim Courneya was safe at first on a Lion throwing error. She later scored on a grounder for a 3-2 lead.

Caitlin Colvin walked the leadoff batter in the sixth, then a wild pitch allowed the runner to reach second. After stealing third, the runner scored as a Colvin pitch got past the catcher for a 3-3 tie.

Colvin pitched a one-hitter, fanned 13 batters and walked five.

Bonney Lake got seven hits off pitcher Kristen Herren as Courneya led the team with two hits.

The Panthers host Franklin Pierce today, Wednesday, and play at White River Tuesday.
