The Sumner High boys played an athletic Clover Park basketball team Dec. 16 at home as the Spartans lost 66-39.

Sumner came out strong in the first quarter and outscored Clover Park 12-8. The boys rotated the ball and took good percentage shots.

As the game continued Clover Park’s size and athletic ability took over in the paint.

Sumner scored 18 points in the third frame, but could only produce five in the fourth.

Jordan Bone and Mike Murphy each scored nine to lead the Spartans. Zeric Cage and Lui Koria each scored six and Tema Koria added five.

Sumner’s game at Auburn Mountainview Friday was canceled due to snow.

The Spartans are scheduled to host Sequim 7:15 p.m. Tuesday in a nonleague game and host Olympic High at 4 p.m. Dec. 31.

Sumner’s next South Puget Sound League 3A game will be 7 p.m. Jan. 6 at home against Lakes.
