SUMNER TENNIS: Spartans fail to score points in tennis play

The Sumner Spartans were shutout in a pair of South Puget Sound League 3A and in nonleague play by Capital on Sept. 25.

Against Capital, Grant Fulton lost, 6-1, 6-0, and teammate Jacob Heuett fell, 6-0, 6-1.

Will Mortell and Dylan Russell drop a match, 6-0, 6-3, Hunter Bleha and Ben Landes lost, 6-1, 6-0, while Spartans fell in the final match, 6-0, 6-1.

Enumclaw handed the Spartans a 5-0 defeated in SPSL 3A play Sept. 23 in Sumner.

In singles action, Dan Milat beat Fulton 6-1, 2-6, 6-2, and Landon Berry downed Henett 4-6, 6-0, 6-3.

Enunclaw’s Jeremy McCarthy and Tyler McCarthy beat Mortell and Russell 6-2, 6-2; while Matt Zender and Justin Williams defeated Bleha and Landes, 6-4, 4-6, 6-4/ Levi Goodin and Casey Claire won their match over Sumner’s Alex Landes and Christian Hines 6-1, 6-0.

The Spartans also dropped a 5-0 decision to Auburn Mountainview Sept. 21.

Fulton lost to Paul Harris, 6-1, 7-5, and Heuett fell to Zane Nelson, 6-1, 6-4.

AM’s Brendan Chandler and Dillon Hurley beat Mortell and Russell, 5-7, 7-6 (7-5), 6-3; Solomon Lotz and Jeremiah Lotz beat Ben and Alex Landes, 6-2, 7-6 (7-2); and Daniel Montgomery-Max Van Elton beat Hines and Bleha, 6-1, 6-4.
