Engel sworn in as Sumner police deputy chief

Sumner Mayor David Enslow swore in Jeff Engel, a nine-year patrol sergeant, at the July 16 city council meeting.

This week, Sumner police Sgt. Jeff Engel began his new position as deputy chief of the department.

Sumner Mayor David Enslow swore in Engel at the July 16 city council meeting.

Engel, a 29-year Coast Guard reservist, was hired onto the force in 1998 according to the city’s Community Connection newsletter published Thursday. He has served as a bicycle officer, school resource officer, DARE educator, crime prevention officer and patrol sergeant.
