Spartans open conference season with 15-3 win over Patriots | Sumner Fastpitch Softball

Sumner's fastpitch softball team defeated the Washington Patriots 15-3 Tuesday, in their first South Puget Sound League 2A conference game of the season.

Sumner’s fastpitch softball team defeated the Washington Patriots 15-3 Tuesday, in their first South Puget Sound League 2A conference game of the season.

The Spartans made runs in every inning, and had an especially strong showing in the third inning, which saw them take nine runs. The Patriot took one run in the first inning and two at the top of the fifth, after which the game was ended by mercy ruling.

The Spartans’ Jamie Lepper accomplished two hits in three times at bat, and held 2-RBI. She hit one single, one double and made two runs herself.

Allie Sims played strong at bat and on the mound. She went to bat five times and hit two singles and one double. She batted in three runs and made four runs herself. Pitching, she struck out 11 Patriots.
