Poetry problem resolved

Editor’s note: The Courier-Herald accepts monthly submissions from members of the local Poetry Jam. A poem published in the May 13 edition contained work attributed to a member, but was taken from a poem originally penned by William Randolph Hearst. The following are responses from both the association and its member who submitted the poem.

Each month the Enumclaw Poetry Jam selects a poet to provide an original work of poetry to submit to the Enumclaw Courier Herald for possible publication and to be available from the Arts Alive! gallery. The May poet selected was June Hall. The poem she submitted, however, was not written by her. We are deeply saddened that this occurred, offer our sincerest apologies to the readers and want to let all know that we will do our best to prevent this from occurring again.

My entry in the poem column last week was an error on my part. I was under the impression that we could enter works we were especially impressed with, as well as our own work. I am in error here and this is in no way a reflection on the poetry group whatsoever.
