Bonney Lake track: Zahnow jumps to Panther victory

Bonney Lake High’s track and field contingent motored west Thursday to Lakewood’s Harry Lang Stadium, beating Auburn Mountainview 76-68 and Clover Park 77-67.
Panther high jumper Josh Zahnow won with a leap of 5 feet, 8 inches and Panther senior Jordin Andrade claimed first place in the 300-meter intermediate hurdles, racing to a clocking of 40.30 seconds.
The winning 400-meter relay team of Brandon Barnett, Taylor Foster, Hunter Colegrove and Andrade clocked a time of 44.83 while in the 1,600-meter relay crew of Aurelien Kamp, Reed Hawkins, Barnett and Andrade finished in 3:35.83.
In the girls competition, Veronica Stinnett won both the 400- and 800-meter events with times of 1:01.61 and 2:24.26.
Sierra Espinal was the frontrunner throughout the 3,200 meters and wound up crossing the finish line far ahead of anyone else with a clocking of 12:45.20.
The Panther girls performed well in the hurdles as senior Kimber Kober finished the 100-meter high hurdles in 16.59 and Haylie Cannon completed the 300-meter intermediate hurdles in 49.42 seconds. Kober also took first in the triple jump competition with a leap of 31-9.5.
Adara Winder took home gold in both the discus and shot put and Cannon also won the high jump.
