Friday night it was Fife that won the South Puget Sound League 2A girls swim meet at Foss High, not Sumner. But the Spartans set five records and will get another run at the Trojans Thursday and Saturday at the West Central District III 2A meet at Hazen High in Renton.
Fife edged the Spartans 696.50 to 569, the Trojans picking up extra points with a first-place diver. Sumner also had three swimmers who were out sick, including Ashley Huynh, who after the first couple races, was taken to the hospital as a precaution after suffering from a reaction to something she ate.
The Spartans have already qualified swimmers for the state meet Nov. 11 and 12.
