Former Hornet receives all-region track & field honors

The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced the all-region performers for the 2026 outdoor season on Wednesday.
This includes former Enumclaw High Hornet track and field athlete Ellie De Groot, who was among a dozen other Central Washington University Track and Team athletes that received a total of 22 West Region honors.
DeGroot, a junior, was named all-region for the 400m hurdles, 4×400 relay, and the heptathlon event, meaning she was in the top five athletes in each event in the West division.
“Ellie DeGroot has really rebounded well from an injury and placed three times on [honors] list,” CWU Head Track & Field Coach Jonathan Hill said in a press release. “She’s talented and well-rounded, ready to compete for NCAA Championships in her top form.”
DeGroot will be be competing in the 2026 NCAA Division II Outdoor Championships next weekend, May 21 – 23.
She’ll feature in the 4×400 relay team and the 400m hurdles.
She’s currently ranked 17th in the hurdle event with a season-best time of 59.31 seconds. Her relay team, consisting of Donna Marie Harris, Carley Huber, and Elise Hopper, goes into the competition ranked fourth with a season-best time of 3:36.90.
