SHS SOCCER: Spartans’ knocked out of playoffs by North Kitsap, 2-1

Sumner High ended its postseason run with a 2-1 loss to North Kitsap Saturday at Silverdale Stadium in the first round of the West Central District tournament, determining who would advance to the Class 2A state tourney.

The Spartans had an early lead when Sam Hoyt scored in the opening minutes of the game. They remained kings of the hill through the first half, but North Kitsap’s Matt Turley brought them even early in the second. Sixteen minutes later, Garrett Wilder brought it all home for the Vikings.

The Sumner boys ended with a 9-7 record.
