With the subdistrict tournament looming on the horizon, the Sumner High girls tennis team packed away a 3-2 win over Peninsula Friday.
The Spartans were likely rained out Monday and possibly Tuesday, but are hopeful to get a nonleague match in Thursday with Timberline to finish the regular season. The South Puget Sound League 3A subdistrict tournament begins May 12 at Clover Park and continues May 13.
Against Peninsula, Emily Gonzales won at No. 1 singles 6-3, 6-0. Taylor Henken and Kyla Anderson played well, winning 6-2, 6-4. The Spartans No. 2 doubles team of Brittany Skirm and Jasmine Babcock also won 7-5, 6-4, coming from behind in both sets.
