Absentee ballots for the Aug. 17 primary should begin arrive in voter mailboxes this week.
According to David Ammons, communications director for the secretary of state, the deadline for having all ballots in the mail to voters is Friday.
“Voting can begin as early as Wednesday,” he said, adding that most voters will have their ballots by the weekend.
Overseas and military ballots have already been mailed.
Ballots for the primary election must be postmarked by Aug. 17, the official day of the election.
Residents in Pierce County have the option of voting at a polling place as well. Presently, Pierce is the only county in the state that still allows polling site voting, though Ammons said a “fairly small number of people” choose that option.

The top two vote-getters in each race will move on to the November general election.
