After retiring as a school cafeteria server and already boasting an expanding online presence, Ann Smith launched Ann’s Fudge and Bakery in downtown Enumclaw.

She opened her doors May 19, offering handmade fudge and baked products, all made from scratch. The creations come from a remodeled space that is big on exposed brick, modern lighting, skylights and plenty of seating.

Smith’s online venture, Oh Fudge by Ann, had ballooned to include 25,000-plus customers, partially due to the business acumen of her son Jason. But she had always dreamed of a storefront business and, with help from daughters Launi and Julie and their families, that came to fruition in Enumclaw.

Smith’s shop offers more than 30 flavors of fudge along with pies, cookies, cupcakes, muffins, dessert bars and brownies. For heartier appetites, there are panini sandwiches; coming soon are breakfast items and additional lunch/dinner fare.

Address: 1522 Cole St., Enumclaw. Hours: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday; 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
