The White River High girls placed fifth and the Hornet boys were sixth at the recent state powerlifting meet.

Competition was held May 4 at North Beach High School in Ocean Shores.

Leading the way among White River’s state placers were a trio who took third in their weight classes – Koner McCoy, Ella Moyer and Emily Nelsen. A notch behind in fourth place were Marissa Bartels and Caden Roehr.

Rounding out the list were Joziah Broek, Riley Cambra and Jack Farrer, all in fifth place; Willow Chernoske and Grant Swettenam, sixth place; and Levi Grasley, 11th place.

The team competes under the direction of coach Juan Garibay.
