Letter to the Editor: Logic has led many to faith

Editor’s note: The following is in response to the letter, “You can’t convince me faith or Republicans serve our country,” published July 8.

I know of many very logical people who have faith in Jesus Christ, including myself. If someone considers themselves to be a logical person but hasn’t yet assessed Christianity based upon logic and evidence, I recommend these best-selling books “The Case for Christ” by (former-atheist) Lee Strobel and “Is Atheism Dead?” by Eric Metaxas.

Let the evidence lead you toward Jesus. Metaxas tells about many very smart people who have done the homework and made that decision.

This same opinion letter disparages another recent writer who described the Bible’s prophecy of a future event commonly referred to as “the rapture.” He described her as using “ridiculous reasoning” and “trusting in 2,000-year-old myths and fables.”

There is a term for people who share his opinion: it is “left behind.”

The book “Lifeline, A Guide to Surviving the End Times,” by Mark C. Tredecim describes the Bible’s end times prophecies, including the rapture, and explains why there has been a 2,000-year gap between the first coming of Jesus and his imminent return. All three of these books are available at Amazon and may be available at your local library.

I’ll conclude with this observation. When you see the words “just sayin’ ” in your local newspaper’s opinion page, you can thank our nation’s founders for the right to free speech provided under the First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, which supports the publication of such letters without the filtering of fact-checkers and government censors. But caveat lector (let the reader beware).
