Many hands made Wine Walk a big hit

Here at the Enumclaw Chamber of Commerce we are working with local businesses in an attempt to draw visitors to our beautiful city because we know the more visitors we get the more our local businesses will thrive.

Here at the Enumclaw Chamber of Commerce we are working with local businesses in an attempt to draw visitors to our beautiful city because we know the more visitors we get the more our local businesses will thrive. It is time for us to share with the rest of the world what we already know, that this is the best darn small town around.

I wanted to take the chance in this month’s article to thank all the sponsors and participants of our hugely successful Wine Walk.

Special thanks to Scott Kral from Sip City Wines for the great idea and Tracey McCallum, executive director of the Enumclaw Chamber of Commerce for sitting down and working out the myriad details. I will have to be honest, when they said we would sell 300 tickets, I thought to myself: first time, middle of November in Enumclaw – don’t think so. Well, when you are wrong you can’t be afraid to admit it. We ended up selling 756 tickets and our only limiting factor was the number of commemorative glasses we had procured. Our last two customers had to settle for regular plastic beer cups and were glad to have them.

Thanks to local businesses Over the Edge, Aaron Brenner’s Bakery, Suburban Soul, Arts Alive!, This ‘n’ That, Young’s Flowers and Gifts, HomeTown Lending, Judy G’s, Skynet, City Perk, Almost Necessities, Posh Paw Boutique, Shabby Chic, Crooked Fence Gifts, 4 Suns Sports and Sip City Wines for opening their shops and welcoming the masses. May all your many visitors come back again and again to shop till they drop.

Thank you to the wineries that happily poured their wares: locally owned Rockridge Orchard and Winery, Chandler Reach Vineyards, which has a local connection, and other Washington state wineries, Townsend Cellar, Brian Carter Cellars, NW Totem Cellars, Two Mountain Winery, Mercer Estate Winery, Masset Winery, Tagaris Winery, Airfield Estates, Okanogan Winery, Novelty Hill, Masquerade Wines, Terra Blanca, Wilridge Winery and Kestrel Vintners. May all your endeavors be fruitful.

We are hoping to make this at least an annual event – what a great kick off to the holiday shopping season.

Some of the other ideas we are throwing around are a Mt. Peak Race, a Pet Parade, a ladies tea/shopping day and maybe even reviving Naches Trail Days…and we are just getting started.

The Chamber of Commerce board of directors recently had our annual summit at Alta Crystal Resort to set our budget and plan for the year ahead. We have set many goals and developed two committees specifically geared toward helping our local business community whether you are a chamber member or not. First is a Community Promotion Committee whose mission is to evaluate current events and develop new and exciting opportunities by working with the local business community and the city of Enumclaw. The second is an Economic Development/Marketing Committee whose goal is to market Enumclaw to the outside world. We are currently revamping our website and working on a new and improved Experience Enumclaw brochure, a full-page brochure showcasing everything our area has to offer and providing an opportunity for all Enumclaw and other Washington businesses to advertise to locals and tourists alike. Our third ad hoc committee will be looking at the nuts and bolts of our operation.

If you would like to come on board, we would love to hear from you.
