Several changes have occurred at the local Pierce County libraries, according to Communications Director Mary Getchell.
Getchell said Lynne Zeiher took over for Clare Murphy as managing librarian Jan. 2 at the Bonney Lake Pierce County Library.
Murphy returned to the central office to work with the library’s electronic resources after serving the Bonney Lake branch for two years.
“Lynne has a significant history serving Pierce County Library System,” Getchell said.
Zeiher most recently was managing librarian for Gig Harbor/Peninsula and Key Center branches.
Getchell said Zeiher created the library’s book cart drill team, which is a concept that has taken off nationally with many libraries around the country replicating the team.
A 17-year veteran with the library system, she was project lead for express checkout – a self-check out service available at every county library location.
Zeiher is also managing the Sumner, Graham and Summit locations.
Lauren Murphy is the senior librarian at Bonney Lake. Murphy, who has 20 years’ experience in the county system, most recently was a youth services supervisor at the Lakewood branch. She will conduct the day-to-day operations at Bonney Lake.
“Lauren was instrumental in creating the Our Own Words teenage writing contest, which is now the Our Own Expressions teen writing and drawing contest,” Getchell said.
At the Sumner branch, Lisa McNamara is serving as the senior librarian. She worked at the Graham branch before coming to Sumner on Jan. 2.
She has been with the county library system for a year.
The Bonney Lake and Sumner branches are open 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Wednesday; 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursdays and Fridays; 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays; and 1 to 5 p.m. Sundays. The Bonney Lake branch can be reached at 253-863-5867 and Sumner at 253-863-0441.
