East Pierce Fire and Rescue will continue to rent a portion of Bonney Lake’s Public Safety Building, now that City Council members have authorized Mayor Neil Johnson to sign a lease agreement.

East Pierce fire commissioners approved the five-year lease agreement. The fire district will pay $260,000 during the time of the agreement.

The Public Safety Building was completed in 1994 and East Pierce has rented a portion of it since December 2000.

The council also awarded a contract to Pipenology Inc. for construction of the sewer line improvements from state Route 167 to Valley Avenue.

Pipenology was the low bidder with a submission of approximately $1 million.

The city will be “slip lining” approximately 6,541 linear feet of 30-inch concrete sewer line along state Route 410 from the Sumner wastewater treatment center to Valley Avenue.

The city has completed two sections of the 30-inch sewer trunk line, under the Burlington Northern railroad and under Valley Avenue.

The project will complete the rehabilitation of the 30-inch sewer trunk line in the valley.

The council approved hosting two public hearings during its Nov. 24 session.

The council will hear testimony on three proposed amendments to the city’s Comprehensive Plan and an areawide rezone.

The second public hearing is for possible mid-biennium adjustments to the 2009-10 budget.

Both public hearings will be during the regular council meeting in council chambers, 19306 Bonney Lake Blvd.

The council approved the White River School District’s request to eliminate school district impact fee.

The district recently updated its five-year Capital Facilities Plan and sent a letter noting it has sufficient existing facilities to accommodate future student enrollment and has no need to plan for or fund additional facilities.

The city approved an amendment to an agreement for Parametrix to design sidewalks, curbs and gutter improvements along 192nd Avenue.

The council also appointed Valery Zifka to represent the city on the Pierce County Conservation Futures Advisory Board.

The Pierce County Code provides one seat on the board for each city with a population of 10,000 or more.
