Sumner City Council members adopted two resolutions regarding animal control services during their March 17 meeting.

In 2005, Sumner began providing animal care and control, known as Metro Animal Services, to Bonney Lake and Edgewood, through interlocal agreements with the cities.

The two resolutions passed at the meeting are updates to the two agreements and provide a seat for both cities on the Metro Animal Services operations board, require the cities to examine dangerous dog ordinances, licensing, and fee structures to ensure consistency in enforcement, and require the cities to encourage pet licensing and require officers to take enforcement action on animal violations occurring in their presence or after hours.
