Washington State Patrol detectives are looking for a vehicle that slowed down and then sped off after striking a motorcyclist who had been thrown from his motorcycle as a result of crashing into cable barriers.

Just before 11 p.m. on Jan. 16, James P. Suddoth, a 57-year-old from Kent, was riding his 2007 Harley Davidson Road King eastbound on state Route 512 in the right hand lane near Puyallup. Suddoth made a lane change into the left hand lane and, for unknown reasons, went off the roadway crashing into the cable barriers. Suddoth was thrown from his motorcycle and landed in the left lane of westbound traffic.

According to witnesses a light colored 4-door passenger car struck Suddoth and slowed down, then sped off without stopping. Suddoth was hit two more times by two other motorists who stopped, and stayed at the scene.

Suddoth was pronounced deceased at the scene.
