Bonney Lake Days ready to blast off

Bonney Lake Days kicks off Friday at Allan Yorke Park and promises to be a memorable celebration.
The three-day event will include music, magic acts, food and plenty of fun for the entire family.
After a four-year hiatus, City Councilman Neil Johnson led the charge to bring Bonney Lake Days back. This is the second year for the bash in the park.
"The City Council set aside $20,000 to help build Bonney Lake Days up," Johnson said. "I don't think we will need to spend all the money that was budgeted. But it will be much bigger and better this year. This has been one of my goals on the council and so many people have pitched in to help."
All events are free with the fun beginning 4 p.m. Friday and continuing until midnight.
Both Friday and Saturday night features music and a dance from 8 p.m. to midnight on the main stage.
"Mr. Bills will be on the main stage Friday," said Michelle Gunn of Michelle's Studio of Dance, who booked the stage acts. "They are a good old rock 'n' roll band. Saturday will feature the Great Pretenders."
A shuttle bus will run from the Bonney Lake park-and-ride to Allan Yorke Park on Saturday and Sunday. The bus will leave the park-and-ride on the hour and return from Allan Yorke Park on the half-hour.
The last shuttle will leave at 12:30 a.m. Saturday and 4:30 p.m. Sunday.
Bonney Lake Tavern will operate a beer garden at the park 4 p.m. to midnight Friday, noon to midnight Saturday and noon to 4 p.m. Sunday.
East Pierce Fire and Rescue will have its firehouse display set up to teach fire safety.
There will be plenty of food and local business booths.
Kristen and Chad of Chad's Hair Studio will be offering haircuts.
A-1 Collision Center will be giving away glider kits Friday and Saturday. They will also set up a glider distance competition with prizes.
There will be a Panther Boosters' pancake feed 9 a.m. to noon Saturday and Sunday. The price is $6 and children under 5 are free. All proceeds will go towards athletic equipment, band uniforms, scholarships and other supplies for Bonney Lake High School, which will open in the fall of 2005.
Tickets for the pancake feed are available at the feed or may be purchased ahead of time at Michelle's Studio of Dance or The Bonney Lake Tavern.
