Bonney Lake Senior Center gets a face lift

Local businessmen and women put down briefcases and picked up garden gloves Friday to landscape the area around the Bonney Lake Senior Center.

By the end of the day, volunteers had pruned, weeded and spread bark in the flower beds, repainted railings and refurbished picnic tables. Hanging baskets and new planters filled with flowers grace the front door. An anonymous donor provided a fountain.

Volunteers were careful not to remove special plants donated to the center.

The daylong project, conceived and coordinated by Windermere Real Estate Lake Tapps, is part of the 20th annual Windermere Community Service Day. Agents and staff from offices in the Western United States will spend Friday volunteering in their respective communities. The program was established in 1984 as an opportunity for the real estate agency to give back to the neighborhoods where they work.

Windermere agent Ken Freed said his office chose the senior center because they are so appreciative.

Windermere Real Estate Lake Tapps was established in November 2003. The office currently has 26 agents and four staff members.

The following businesses contributed to the Bonney Lake Senior Center landscaping project include: Windermere Real Estate Lake Tapps, Starbucks, Wells Fargo, Pacific Guarantee Mortgage, Talon Title, Commonwealth Title, CTX Mortgage, Pacific Northwest Title, JFK Nurseries, Lawyers Title, Jim Scott Inspections, Ben Franklin, Fred Meyer and Ticor Title.
