It's time to start thinking about Enumclaw Stars and Stripes Fourth of July celebration.
The committee is accepting applications for the parade, entertainment has been set and the fireworks are ordered.
This year, Mutual of Enumclaw will sponsor the parade scheduled for 6 p.m., July 4, down Cole Street. Staging begins at 5 p.m. at the corner of Railroad Street and Washington Avenue. The entry fee is $10. Deadline for entries is June 27. Entries received after June 27 will be charged $20. There is no charge for non-profit groups. To obtain a parade application, call the Chamber of Commerce at 360-825-7666, visit the office at 1421 Cole St., or visit www.enumclawchamber.com (click to calendar of events and go to July 2005).
The celebration itself kicks off downtown near the Chamber of Commerce office with opening ceremonies at noon. Entertainment, crafts and activities are available for kids of all ages through the start of the parade.
In addition to the main stage entertainment during the downtown event. The Enumclaw Arts Commission will host two performances the holiday weekend. The first is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. July 2 when the U.S. Air Force Band of the Golden West comes to the Enumclaw High auditorium. The second is two days later, July 4, when the Cheryl Serio Quintet plays at Pete's Pool just before the Stars and Stripes Celebration fireworks display at the King County Fairgrounds.
The evening concludes with a fireworks show at dusk at the fairgrounds.
Volunteers are still needed in many areas; anyone interested can contact Tami Dunn at 360-825-7194.
