Bonney Lake has signed a letter of intent to purchase a piece of property east of the city with an agricultural well site located on it. The difficulty for the city may be converting the well from and agricultural to a municipal water right.

"We're working out the details, it should take about 30 days before it's settled," Mayor Bob Young said. "The problem is getting the water right through DOE (Department of Ecology). They know the application is coming, so we'll see if they start dragging their heels."

The policy of the Bonney Lake City Council has been to develop their own water rights. The purchase of this site, if approved, will add another piece to the system.

Negotiations for the well have been in the works for the last six months.
