Exclusive Diva and E Z Kitty to meet again in $50,000 Boeing Handicap | Emerald Downs

One of Emerald Downs’ hottest rivalries–Exclusive Diva vs. E Z Kitty–continues Sunday, July 7, when older fillies or mares meet in the $50,000 Boeing Handicap at one mile.

Exclusive Diva and E Z Kitty have traded stakes decisions at the meet*E Z Kitty scoring by two lengths in the six-furlong Hastings Handicap on May 12, and Exclusive Diva rebounding by 1 ¼-lengths in the 6 ½-furlong Washington State Legislators Stakes on June 9.

Exclusive Diva also defeated E Z Kitty by a neck in a 5 ½*furlong allowance race, so the 4-year-old daughter of Bernardini carries a two-to-one season edge into the Boeing Handicap, which serves as the final major tune-up for the $65,000 Emerald Distaff at 1 1/8 miles on Sunday, August 18.

The added distance shouldn’t be an obstacle for either horse: Exclusive Diva is 1-0-1 in two starts at one mile while E Z Kitty is 3-0-0 in four starts at the distance. In fact, both horses have won over half of their career starts*E Z Kitty is 10-3-2 in 19 starts with earnings of $192,873, Exclusive Diva 7-3-1 in 11 starts with earnings of $184,571.

Evelyn’s Dancer is the belle of the ball at Hastings Racecourse and an obvious contender if she ships south for trainer Mike Puhich and owners Glen Todd and Dr. Mark Dedomenico. The 4-year-old Songandaprayer filly has won six stakes at her home track, and her career debut was a three-length win at Emerald Downs on June 24, 2011.

Champagneandcaviar took honors as Emerald Downs’ Top 3-Year-old Filly last year, and she gets a longer distance after finishing sixth in the Washington State Legislators Stakes in her 2013 debut.

Gosailgo has performed well in two starts this year at Emerald Downs, finishing fourth in the Hastings and third in the Washington State Legislators, and comes off a second in a June 23 allowance race at 1 1/16 miles at Hastings Racecourse.
