Bonney Lake Police Chief Bryan Jeter announced that Lt. Michael Strozyk resigned from the city police force as of Jan. 31.

Strozyk, second in command in the department, was place on administrative leave by Jeter on Nov. 24 for undisclosed reasons.

"He resigned before our investigation ended," Jeter said. "No determination was made. The process ended before his side was heard so there was no determination."

The loss of the Strozyk leaves the department short, even though four officers were hired during the last five months. Of those four, two were new additions, one was a replacement and the fourth a community service officer.

"Lt. Strozyk's resignation leaves a hole, no question about that," Jeter said. "It's tough to lose 16 years of experience. We hope to fill the position soon."

The charges against Strozyk were not of a criminal nature, according to Mayor Bob Young.

"His resignation has been accepted," Young said. "I really feel bad about this. He was a good officer. We all feel bad when these things happen. I regret his leaving."
