State seeks comments regarding highways

Those who travel a pair of busy roadways serving Enumclaw might have some good ideas for making their motoring experience a bit safer. If so, the state's Department of Transportation is willing to listen.
The DOT has planned a public meeting for Thursday, in hopes of getting public opinion regarding state routes 164 and 169. SR 164 is the busy stretch of road running between Enumclaw and Auburn, while 169 starts in Enumclaw and heads north through Black Diamond and Maple Valley to its destination in Renton.
The meeting is slated to run from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the Enumclaw High School commons, 226 Semanski St.
During a recent Enumclaw City Council meeting, the concern was voiced that DOT plans might be limited to the larger cities. Council members were assured that the "Enumclaw end" of the state highways will be getting equal consideration.
Anyone unable to make the Enumclaw meeting can attend two other sessions. The DOT will host an identical meeting Tuesday at the Philip Starr Center on the Muckleshoot Reservation and another on March 10 at Chinook Elementary School in Auburn. Those meetings also run from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m.
