Police looking for reserve officer

The Bonney Lake Police Department is accepting applications for the position of reserve police officer. This is a volunteer position that does not receive compensation. Reserve police officers must pay for their own handguns, equipment and training. The cost is estimated at $1,500.
Many people who become reserve police officer use it as an apprenticeship to becoming a full-time police officer.
"Most get into reserves with sights on becoming an officer, but it doesn't have to be that way," Police Chief Bryan Jeter said. "Some people that become reserve officers keep another job."
Successful applicants will take the state physical agility test. Those who pass the agility test will proceed to a competitive oral interview and will be ranked in order of finish.
The top candidates will proceed to the chief of police interview where candidates will be selected to move forward with the background investigation.
Candidates will be subject to an extensive background investigation that will include a psychological exam and polygraph exam.
Successful candidates will secure admission to the Fife Reserve Academy scheduled to start in mid-March.
Applications are available at the Bonney Lake Police Department during normal business hours.
This application process will close at 5 p.m. Feb. 13.
Requirements
€ 21 years of age
€ be of sound moral character
€ be a high school graduate or possess GED equivalency
€ possess a valid Washington State driver's license
€ be a citizen of the United States;
€ have no felony convictions;
€ Possess basic computer skills;
€ Possess the ability to read, write and speak the English language fluently;
€ Possess excellent communications skills and the ability to make decisions during stressful situations
€ Possess the ability to pass the physical agility test required by Washington State to attend the basic training academy.
Disqualification
€ Applicants will be disqualified who have an extensive history of narcotics use.
€ Certain types of narcotics will cause disqualification no matter what the circumstances.
€ A history of violence will also cause disqualification.
