To the left of this photo, which faces Enumclaw, is the first White River Bridge, part of the planned Naches to Yakima highway. That bridge was first built in 1897, then lost in a 1908 flood. Two houses are visible between the flooded road and the railroad trestle. Boise Creek can be faintly seen between the two bridges, where it drops 70 feet from the Enumclaw Plateau to the White River channel.

This 1899 photograph of the recently-completed Norhtern Pacific Railway bridge over the White River looks south from Enumclaw toward Buckley. It was taken by W. S. Walbridge of Slaughter; his lower right inscription reads, “White River Bridge and Bridge Crew, Cascade Division. N.P.R.R.” Boise Creek can be seen to the left of the railroad trestle.

Between the holiday markets, tree lightings, wine walks and galas, there's something for everyone to enjoy this month. Here are photos from last year's Enumclaw Chamber Wine Walk, the Winter Stoke Party, and the Danish Sisterhood Bazaar. Photos by Ray Miller-Still
