The Sumner School District board of directors adopted a “value analysis” of Sumner Middle School, approving the suggestions of the engineering firm hired to assess the school.
The analysis was completed in December and the resolution was brought before the board at its February meeting but was tabled because there were not enough members present to vote. The state-mandated analysis is a method of studying the quality and cost of a facility. The study involves a workshop with a team led by an official qualified by the Society of American Value Engineers.
The engineering firm then makes suggestions on how the design and construction of the facility could be changed to increase savings, while maintaining quality. Sumner Middle School is undergoing a modernization process.
In other business the board approved construction reports for Lakeridge Middle School and Victor Falls Elementary School.
