Things were pretty quiet last week on the White River High athletic scene as the school district observed spring break. An exception came the afternoon of April 4 when both the Hornet baseball and fastpitch squads hosted nonleague opponents on the Buckley campus. Things went well for the home teams: the girls put together a big 11-run second inning on the way to a 14-1 triumph over the Eatonville Cruisers; the boys had a tougher time, trailing 1-0 after four innings but eventually scoring five runs in the fifth and claiming a 5-1 win. Pictured here are starting pitchers Elliotte Kajita (#19) and Aaden Rathbun; also shown is White River’s Ellie Friis, beating out an infield hit.
